Carnation flowers produce a spicy clove like fragrance.  They can be planted in flower beds, containers and rockeries.

Position -  Full sun in fertile soil.  Add compost.

spacing - 20 - 30cm.

Disease and pests -

Insect and disease problems are infrequent, if problems occur treat early with general insecticide or fungicide.

Care -

Carnations do not require too much water except in the hot months.  Too much water can cause their foliage to turn yellow.  Do not mulch as they like their stems to get plenty of air circulation.  Feed very month with 2.3.2.
